Websites that are ad-supported typically display one or more ads on the page. This is the case when you view the web page for Ustream. You can block ads to keep them from appearing on the Ustream page by editing the hosts file for your computer. The hosts file is used to maintain the mappings of various IP addresses to their host name. Adding entries to this file will prevent an Internet connection to the site that hosts an ad.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

1
Click the "Start" button and select the option for "Computer." Double-click the (C:) icon and navigate to "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc."

2
Right-click the "Hosts" file and select "Open" from the context menu. Select "Notepad" from the list of programs and click the "OK" button.

3
Place the cursor at the end of the file and press the "Enter" key two times.

4
Type "127.0.0.1 cdn1.ustream.tv/*" and press the "Enter" key. This will block ads from Ustream. Type "127.0.0.1 googleads.g.doubleclick.net" to block doubleclick ads from Google.
