Press Statement on United States Census 2010

The Board of Directors of Zomi Innkuan USA, Inc. strongly encourages the people of Zomi residing in the United States to fully take part in US
Census 2010. It was a unanimous decision made by the members of the
Board of Directors, who are representatives of the Zomi communities
around the country.

Zomi Innkuan USA is an umbrella organization of Zomi community organizations (Zomi Innkuan) from the State of Oklahoma, Florida, Illinois, Texas,
Ohio, Oregon, Iowa, Indiana, Utah, Georgia, Arizona, Missouri, Kansas,
Michigan, New York and Washington DC Area. The term “Zomi” is the
genetic name of the people from north western part of Burma and north
eastern part of India. “Zomi” is known as “Chin” in Burma.

It is a historic privilege for the Zomis to be counted for the first time here in the United States. And this is the first time in history that
the Zomis will enjoy freedom to proclaim its own identity and be
recorded by the genetic name of its race, thanks to the U.S. Census
Bureau.

Having been privileged to be counted, Zomi Innkuan USA, on behalf of the people of Zomi residing in the United States reaffirms that the genetic
name of our race is “Zomi” that will be placed in the Census Form.
